The Holistic Medicine Benchmark

Holistic medicine highlights the individual's biological, psychosocial and genetic uniqueness and values tailoring treatment to address the individuals physical, mental and spiritual.

It views health not as an absence of disease, but as a positive state. The holistic approach emphasizes the prevention of disease, promotion of health and considers the individual's family, community and culture, as well as the responsibility for each person for their own health.

Good health depends on regular exercise and good nutrition and holistic medicine uses a therapeutic approach to activate our inherent capacity for self-healing. It takes the viewpoint that illness is not a misfortune, but also an opportunity for discovery.

Holism can transform practitioners as well as those receiving treatment, as it appreciates the quality of life in all stages and has an interest in improvement.
